At The Beginning
Thomas Williams is shown on the List of "Mayflower" Passengers. (see article)
The Williams name is an old Welch name, but down through the years, the Williams history has become Dutch, Scotch, Irish and English.
The Daniel Austin Williams and Nancy Ann Herring farm where I lived and where this subdivision is located was bought in the year 1904. ( see copy of deed)
Daniel A. Williams was born July,13,1858, in Lenior County. He was the fourth child of Austin S. Williams and Nancy T. Williams. Daniel's father was a Free Will Baptist preacher and farmer who lived and died in Wayne County. Austin was a bound child of Daniel (Bill) Williams of Wayne County. A bound child was one whose father was dead, but their mother may still be alive. Women of this period were unable to support minor without a husband. Therefore the courts bound children out to others in turn for their support. When the child became of age, they were free to do as they wished.
Daniel was a large man muscular and big boned. He was over six feet tall, and weighed about 210 pounds. He was THE authoritarian of the family. When he spoke the family listened.
In 1882, Daniel married Nancy Ann Herring of Lenior County. Her parents were Benjamin Franklin Herring, born 1828 in Lenior County, and Nancy Dawson Herring, born in 1851.
Daniel and Nancy moved to Johnston County. They lived at the Daniel Fete Peedin homeplace. He rented the land and got his start there by clearing trees and stumps from the farm. He was to receive one acre of land for every ten acres he cleared. Part of the farm adjoins Jump Road.
In time he was able to buy 94 1/2 acres of land on Jump Road.
The road was named after his sister's Mary, family. They cleared the land and built Jump Road.
With the help of Nancy, and their nine children; Daniel was able to put together a self supporting farm operation. They had cattle, hogs, chickens, several vegetable gardens. We had eggs, milk, butter, bread and all types of vegetables for consumption or canning for later use.
They had a Saw Mill, a Cotton Gin and a guano- fertilizer operation. I remember the men gathering to mix the sulpher, potash, lime, nitrate and other mixtures to suit the soil of each farm. Their own Williams soil management team.
I feel that it is necessary for me to honor the Williams side of my family by placing the Williams Farm name forever on this small section of land.

I was unable to name a street after Daniel, Dan, Nancy, Ann due to existing road's with these names.
In Ireland, the usage of greeting : Good Morning Madam/Sir, How are you? After they replied, You then said; and Himself or Herself, enquiring as to husband or wife. Two streets will be named HERSELF and HIMSELF in honor of Nancy Ann and Daniel Williams.
One street will be named for my Irish wife, my love and soul mate for 48 years. Rosanna Byrne. "Rosepace Court" One Street ,using another Irish custom for my two Daughters Yolanda and Laura. We have used the first two letters of Yolanda and middle two letters of Laura to name the last street "Yourself Lane".
I am Ted Pace, son of Louellen Williams and Lester Pace, grandson of Nancy and Daniel Williams. I lived with them from the age of 9 months until Grandpa's death. I wish all who tread on this soil to love thy neighbor as they love themselves.
Thanks
Ted Pace
